Characterization of Interleukin-1 Receptor Beta (IL-1Rβ) and Its Immune Response against VHSV Infection in Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus)

interleukin-1 receptor beta (il-1rβ) plays a key role in the activation and regulation of immune responses, mediating inflammatory reactions and serving as an important component in the host’s defense mechanisms against infection. il-1rβ is particularly crucial in the early immune response to viral infections and the suppression of viral replication. its expression level can serve as an indicator reflecting the progression of infection and the magnitude of the immune response. recent studies have reported that inflammatory responses and innate immune regulation play a significant role during infection with viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (vhsv). in this study, we identified the il-1rβ gene in olive flounder (paralichthys olivaceus) and quantitatively analyzed its expression levels across various tissues. the il-1rβ gene was approximately 700 bp in length, and its biological relevance was estimated based on its interaction count with other molecules. among the tested tissues, il-1rβ expression showed the most significant increase in the spleen, with an approximately five-fold upregulation compared to normal conditions. when il-1rβ was overexpressed in fhm cells, the rna copy number of vhsv was reduced, suggesting a suppressive effect on viral replication. in addition, we examined the expression levels of several signaling molecules involved in vhsv infection. these results suggest that inflammatory responses and innate immunity play a significant role in paralichthys olivaceus during vhsv infection. further studies will be conducted to ensure a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of these findings.
